5 Points To Be Considered While Choosing Hair Accessories

Hair accessories add great style to you and your overall appearance. They come in different shapes and styles and you should consider some point in choosing them

1...Safely Comes First

First of all. your safety is of utmost importance. Always choose a hair accessory that fits comfortably in your hair without pulling it too hard.

Before choosing any hair accessory make sure that they don't have sharp edges. A sharp pointed hair pin can scratch your skin.

2...Choose According To Occasion

Choose your hair accessory according to the occasion. Bridal hair comb makes the bride more beautiful for the event. Tiara and feathers can be worn to compliment your western dresses like evening gown. Hair band go well with casual and jeans and looks businesslike.

        3...Select With The Nature's Mood

Choose your accessory according to the weather. In summer use hair accessories like ribbons, butterfly clips and hairband  to keep the hair off the forehead and nape of your neck.In winter use those accessories that cover your ears also

            4...Match Colour With Your Outfit

Make sure that the colour of your hair accessory matches with your outfit.

5...Consider your hair length in choosing hair accessory.

Tiny hair stickers sometimes bejewelled, sit well on short hair.Curly hair can be decorated besides being held in place, with diamante claws. You are fortunate if you have long hair as you can use any style of hair accessory to lend glamour to your hairstyle.

These are the points I consider while choosing my hair accessories. Now tell me if you have any other suggestions with your experience

5…Add a few drops of essential oil or eau-de- Cologne or if you like even a handful of rose petals in your bath water to smell fresh and fragrant.
6…Lather yourself with your favorite soup or bathing gel of your skin type.
7…Relax in your fragrant bathtub, switch on your favorite music or have a book or magazine for a cozy read.
8….Step out of your bathtub, pat dry slowly and apply body lotion or moisturizing lotion.
9…Your skin is now soft and pliable so it’s best time to do your weekly manicure and pedicure
10…After your relaxing bath sneak in your bed, take a glass for your favorite drink or plateful of salad or any healthy snack and take a rest while watching TV or reading anything interesting
This once a week beauty bath will make you a relaxed and gleaming beauty.

Are You Eating Enough Beauty Foods

Are You Eating Enough Beauty Foods

Eating certain foods can dramatically improve the appearance of our skin, hair, nails, and eyes.
A diet rich in "phyto-compounds" can stimulate DNA repair, increased collagen production, reduce inflammation, and improve blood flow. This not only keeps you healthy but it keeps you looking younger longer.
Creams and lotions can do wonders for your skin, but your diet is by far the most crucial when it comes to having healthy skin.
Beauty is dependent on the overall health of your body. In order for your skin to look attractive and vibrant you need to make healthy lifestyle choices, and a great place to start is with the foods you eat.
So if you want your skin to feel soft and look firm here are a few foods that you can eat starting today.

                Hand Care

                Hand Care
for facials or skin care treatments, or using homemade skin care products to take care of your face but you may have forgotten all about your hands. Your hands need just as much care as your face and you don’t even need to go to the beauty salon for this. Here are a few quick tips on how to care for your hands.
                Hand Care Tips
                • Always wear rubber gloves when you plan to do any household work or gardening. If your hands are exposed to too much water, soap, detergents, dirt or chemicals then, the skin of your hands can become wrinkled and rough.
                • Ideally, you should moisturize your hands at least 4 times in a day, especially after washing them. Even if you do not have time make it a habit of moisturizing your hands before you go to bed at night. This is just as important as brushing you teeth before you go to bed, every night.
                • You can also use your face exfoliator on your hands. This will help to remove any dirt and dead skin cells, and nourish and rejuvenate the skin of your hands.
                • You can scrub your hands with bath salts, after washing them with soap. This will leave your hands squeaky clean. Do remember to slather some moisturizer on your hands afterwards.
                • If you have oily hands, you can try rubbing cornmeal on them after washing them with soap.
                • Go in for regular manicures (professional or homemade) to keep your hands and nails in good condition.
                • Drink lots of water and fresh fruit juices. Eat a balanced, low-oil diet.
                • Exercise regularly. If you are healthy and fit, you skin will have a healthy glow.
                • If the skin of your hands is dry and flaky—you can massage a little petroleum jelly on your hands before you go to bed at night. After you do this, you may wear thin cotton gloves. Wake up in the morning and enjoy the soft feel of your hands.
                • A quick, easy-to-make homemade scrub for your hand will help. Here’s the recipe for a rejuvenating homemade hand scrub:

Ingredients for the homemade hand scrub recipe

                • White Oats- 1 tbsp.
                • Honey-1 tsp.
                • Water-½ cup
                Milk (refrigerated)-1 tbsp
How To Prepare The Hand Scrub
Take the water and the oats in a glass (Pyrex) vessel. Boil the mixture till the water evaporates, completely. Take care not to burn the oats. Scrape out the well-boiled oats and put it in a glass bowl. Add the milk and honey to the boiled oats and mix well.

How to apply the hand scrub

                • Clean your hands with a mild soap.
                • Pat your hands dry with a soft towel.
                • Apply the hand scrub, evenly, over your hands (fingers included).
                • Leave on for 10 minutes.
                • Wash off the hand scrub with lukewarm water.
                • Pat your hands dry with a soft towel.
                • Take an almond-sized drop of moisturizer in your palm. Massage it into the skin of your hands and fingers, using gentle but firm rotating movements of your finger tips.
                • Use this hand scrub two times a week for best results.
                • This hand scrub exfoliates, moisturizes and rejuvenates the skin of your hands. Use this hand scrub, regularly, and enjoy the clean,
                • soft and firm feel of your hands. (You may use this scrub for your feet as well.)
Note: Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

Massage the ingredients into your feet, and leave on for 5-10 minutes. Wash off with warm water. This method is helpful when it comes to saving time as well as getting the desired effect.
Use a moisturizer everyday on your feet, after bath and before going to sleep, carefully massaging into the dry areas, nails and the cuticles. This will keep the feet feeling soft.

If you suffer from feet that ache from pressure, then there are natural remedies for aching feet as well. For this, you need 4-5 drops of essential oil of tea tree, 3-4 drops of essential oil of cypress and 1-2 teaspoons of jojoba oil. Mix all the ingredients together, pour into a large bowl or bucket of warm water, place your feet in the water and leave on for 5-10 minutes. How to Keep Your Long Locks Healthy

How to Keep Your Long Locks Healthy
Love your long hair by giving it loving care!

You love your long hair, right? Long hair needs special care to stay shiny, free of split ends and strong in the wake of any hairstyle! While long well cared for hair is often envied by others, almost nothing looks worse than long, unkempt hair that is crying out for some attention.

                Get A Trim

Although many with long hair loathe the thought, frequent trims are the most important aspect of keeping long hair in the best possible condition. If you are in a growing phase, trim half an inch about every three months. If you already have long hair and want to keep the same length, a trim every four to six weeks is ideal to keep split ends at bay and keep your hairs style in tip top shape.

                Stay Away From Chemicals

Chemical treatments are not recommended for long hair, as it is already quite fragile. Any bleach or strong perm solutions stand to weaken the hair shaft and set you up for fuzzy long hair – a fashion faux pas any day of the week. If you want to color your hair use natural henna or semi permanent hair color that contains no peroxide. This type of color only deposits and does not lift color, so it is not damaging to the hair. If you insist on bleach highlights or a perm, it is imperative that you deep condition your hair once a week with a quality product. Organic hair products are great for long hair in general and particularly good for deep conditioning. I apply deep conditioner and wear it to bed (yes, it’s very romantic – not) rinsing it out in my morning shower. Leaving the product on overnight really gives it a chance to sink it and do it’s good work for your tresses. If you must, you can wear a shower cap to bed to prevent any pillow case damage. I just comb mine through my hair and put in a headband. I wash my pillowcase the next day – no big deal.

                Don’t Overheat Your Hair!

Long hair really does not take so well to heated appliances such as blow dryers, flat irons and scorching hot curling irons. It’s best to leave hairstyles that require these heated appliances to special occasions. Long hair is technically old hair, and it does not want to be oven baked any more than young hair does! Any time you can let your hair air dry, you are doing yourself and your hair a great favor.

                Eat A Healthy Diet
Your diet really does affect the health of your hair so take heed with ‘you are what you eat’. Eating a lot of sugar, salt and animal fats is bad for you and for your hair. Drinking lots of water and taking a daily multi vitamin (especially if you don’t eat adequate fruits and vegetables…it’s better to get your vitamins from foods but a supplement is a good back up plan) will nourish your body therefore nourishing your hair as well.

It’s taken time and patience to grow the long hair you’ve always wanted, so invest the time and money in a regime to keep it looking its very best. Good hair habits quickly become second nature when you reap the rewards of a glossy, radiantly healthy mane that gets compliments on a daily basis. Long hair can be luxurious, vital, head turning hair - but it doesn’t happen by accident. Treat your long hair with special care and you will find yourself smiling when you look in the mirror

                Beauty on A Budget

                Is your budget on overload?

Do you have more beauty wishes than beauty dollars? Don't worry. Your bathroom just may already have that beauty item that you're wanting. Here's how to get that sophisticated look on a slim budget.
                Makeup does double duty:
One of the best ways to get a new makeup item is to go through the stuff you already have. Just what are you looking for? Items that can live double lives...
                • Need a new foundation? Look at your loose powders instead. Just apply in sheer layers with a damp sponge, or a sponge lightly layered in your favorite facial moisturizer. Lightly layer on and blend for a custom made foundation.
                • Used to spritzing you makeup with a final spray of Evian water? Make your own. Find a mini plant mister bottle, or travel size spray water and fill with water. Chill in the refrigerator overnight for a cooling effect.
                • Need a new bronzer? Use that foundation that's 2-3 shades darker than you are instead. Just touch apply where you would use your bronzer. In a pinch? Dig out that warm brown eye shadow.
                • Dying to get that latest eyeshadow base? Use your concealer and loose powder. Because that's exactly what eyeshadow base is.. use your foundation to evenly apply over your eyelids and set with a touch of loose powder pressed on with a makeup sponge. Then apply your colored eye shadow.
                • Need to buy a new lipstick pencil to match that new lipstick? Don't. Just look for a beige or nude eyebrow pencil.
                • Need to match your favorite blush with a new lipstick? You already have it in your blush. Just apply your blush on your lips with a eyeshadow sponge applicator, and then use your favorite clear lip gloss or lip balm over it.
                • Don't spend $$$ on that expensive eye makeup remover. Just find a pretty glass bottle and fill with virgin olive oil, or in a pinch, baby shampoo. There's a reason they say 'no tears'.
                • Makeup kits can range in the hundreds of dollars, so instead, simplify. Looking to store your lipsticks? Try the drugstore to find pill boxes. Available in 7 or as much as 30 slots, just fill with your favorite lipsticks by cracking in your lip colors with a popsicle stick.
Is your favorite makeup item just not working anymore? Don't go out and buy a new one. Just customize the one you already have like the pros do.

Foundation: Too thick? Thin with a few drops of mineral water or toner. Too oily? De-grease with a few drops of witch hazel. Too dark? Lighten up with a few scrapes of light pressed powder. Too dull? Lighten with a few scrapes of a pearly peach or pink blush. Need a glow? Scrape in a pearly powder highlighter, or a few drops of liquid highlighter. Want to turn your favorite foundation into a tinted foundation? In a separate plastic bottle, mix your foundation 1/2 and 1/2 with bronzer, or self-tanner. Or, mix a darker shade 1/2 and 1/2 with your sunscreen. Shake, and instant tinted foundation.
Concealer: Too thick or dry? Revitalize with a drop of foundation or eye cream. Mix into the container, or apply first one, then the other.
Blush: Too dark? Tap your blush brush into your pressed powder or baby powder first, then your color. Apply for shades lighter blush. Too light? Tap into your bronzer shade first. Too muddy? Use instead as eye shadow.
Eye Shadow: Cream shadow dry out? Put a few drops of water or olive or mineral oil.
Lipstick: Need a lip stain? Rescue that old wine colored blush from years gone by and apply with a Q-top on dry lips. Apply your favorite Chapstick on top. Need a whole new color? Have 2 lipsticks down to the end of the tubes? Don't worry. Just dig out the remaining 1/2" of lipstick in the bottom of the tubes and mix into a metal or plastic container. A brand new shade. Hint: Mix two shades together in the same color family for a painless mix

Whiten Your Teeth By Eating Apples

A smile enhances your face value and more so if it is backed by healthy sparkling teeth. But you just can't do without those steaming cups of tea/coffee. They are that indispensable to you & you highly need them to stimulate you, to get you going and to brighten up your day. One of the consequences of this indulgence: over a period of time you will develop stains on your teeth, which will dull your smile.

Easiest way to fight this stain .Ttry this good old but a highly effective home remedy. Bite into a juicy apple after lunch. Your teeth will look noticeably whiter! The mildly acidic and astringent quality of apples cleanses and brightens your teeth. Chewing foods like apples, celery, sugarcane and carrots, actually help scrub away stubborn stains over time. It is almost like brushing your teeth with a nature's toothpaste; a toothpaste which not only acts as a teeth whitener from the outside but also promises good dental health from the inside. Being a tea/coffee drinker, if you weren't consuming these foods earlier, do so now. You will begin to notice the cleansing effect of these foods on your teeth right away.

However do not forget to rinse your mouth with water after eating apples. If you don't get a chance to do so then at least drink some water to rid your teeth of the sugar or acid that it may have deposited. Alternatively, try a stick of sugarless gum. This chewing action stimulates flow of saliva. Saliva neutralizes acids produced by plaque bacteria and helps clear the mouth of food that plaque bacteria usually feast on. So chew gum and smile on

                Applying Concealer

Helping to even out the facial skin, concealers are sometimes the only cosmetic that many women prefer to use along with powder for daily purposes. For summer, you may need a shade darker to match your skin tanned and baked in the sun. It basically camouflages facial imperfections and balances out your complexion by hiding out the skin blemishes and under-eye circles. For accurate results, apply the concealer using a small fine tipped brush and blend it well. A yellow-based concealer is a best match for most of the skin tones while translucent powder helps it to set.

A concealer with a high pigment level and having mineral oil as its contents is best for camouflaging purposes as it covers the spot better and stays on the top of the face for more time. It is best to check whether a concealer matches your skin or not in sunlight for correct estimations. Buy the concealer that blends so well that it seems to disappear on the skin and yet hide the targeted spot. Here are some tips to use concealer wisely to get best results:
*Adding yellow eye shadow to the concealer can effectively cover dark circles.
Blue or green eye shadow added to concealer is helpful to mask ruddy tones and broken capillaries.

*Dry your pimple with the help of a blow dryer on low heat and then use a pointed brush to target the yellow-toned concealer that matches the tone of your foundation, which is dry and has a high pigment level, to the spot. Lightly press around the edges with fingers. Set with loose powder. You can also use concealer pencil for the purpose.

*Freckles and pigmentation must only be hidden when it is absolutely necessary as it takes a heavy layer of concealer to cover them up and can look worse. Moisturize the skin well and apply a creamy concealer, which is a shade lighter than your foundation and set it with loose powder. For added glamour, you can also dust it with subtle, skin-toned shimmer powder.

*The inside of the nose bridge, corner of moth and outer corner of eyes are the most susceptible areas and need special attention while applying concealer.
The slightly dehydrated residue in the cap of your foundation can be quite an effective concealer that matches your foundation perfectly.

*To eliminate under-eye dark circles, choose a creamy concealer with medium pigment level and matt finish. Loose powder may end up accentuating the aging lines in the area. A silky make-up primer with a high level of silicone applied to the area before using the concealer, helps to better mask the area while it also hydrates and smoothen the lines. Apply the concealer by using the synthetic concealer brush and then press into the skin with the fingertips.

*To get rid of red scars and birthmarks, use yellow-based concealers. Apply a matt primer to the scars before using drier concealers with high pigment level to cover them up. For raised scars use a slightly darker shade of concealer than your natural skin tone while lighter shade is for indented scars. Set with loose powder.
To hide broken capillaries, you need a yellow-based concealer with a high pigment level and pointed fiber brush for precise application. Press the concealer using the fingertips and then dust with loose powder to let it set.

                CARE FOR LIPS

A beautiful smile lights up a day. It makes your face more beautiful and lively. Your lips are the most important and exquisitely sensitive part of your body. And therefore you have to take special care of your lips.
Beauty Experts tells you what are the common problems and how to take care of them..............
                The common lips problems are:
                *Dark Lips
                *Cracked lips
                1) Dark Lips:
You will be surprised to know that our lips unlike most part of our body do not have any melanin pigment to protect them. Lips are covered on the outside by a thin layer of skin and on the inside by virtually transparent mucous membranes.
Therefore it is necessary to take care of our lips and to eat well-balanced food and lots of fruits.
If you have dark lips you have to do the following
*Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.
                * Stop smoking.
                * Avoid lipstick.
                * Apply a layer of oil and leave it on for several hours. Best apply before going to bed
                * Mix coconut oil and almond oil in equal quantity. Apply a coat of this on the lips and leave on overnight. This has to be done daily for at least two weeks for best results.
                * Massage lips: Every night with a mixture of 1/2 tsp. Glycerine and 1/2 tsp. Castor oil with 1/2 tsp. Lemon juice and leave overnight.
*Apply cream from curds with saffron on your lips.
                Cracked Lips:

Lips do not produce oil like our skin, because they have no oil producing glands. The skin on our lips is actually mucous membrane, so for them to remain smooth and chap free is a bit of a challenge. The most common cause of cracked lips are allergic reaction to cosmetics, skin infections, extreme weather conditions like excess sun and wind exposure, biting of the lips or a vitamin B deficiency.
If you have cracked lips you have to do the following
*Protect the lips from weather by applying heavy plain cream.
                *Avoid licking your lips.
*To cure dry chapped lips apply peanut butter or coco butter to your lips before going to bed.
*Grind rose petals with cream on the top of milk and apply on lips to cure the cracked lips
*Take vitamin B, C foods in diet.
*Mix 2 drops of glycerine with 1 tsp of cream on the top of milk and apply to lips to cure the chapped lips and keep overnight to get smooth and shiny lips.
*Mix equal quantities of nutmeg, turmeric, and fresh butter and apply to lips.
*Hot water fomentation, followed by a mixture of Vaseline and honey applied on the lips at least thrice a week will prevent lips from chapping.
*Lips should be moisturized and exfoliated. Exfoliate lips with your gentle facial scrub using a toothbrush or just the tips of
your fingers. You can make a paste using baking soda and water to exfoliate lips as well. Work it for a minute and then rinse with lukewarm water.
                General Care for lips

*Apply cold cream or moisturizer or lip balm before applying lipstick.
*To get natural pink lips apply beetroot juice before bed.
*Grind rose petals and apply on lips to get smooth pink lips
*Apply menthol based lip balm and take an old brush and brush gently on lips (don t rub too hard, because lip are very sensitive) to get rid off chapped lips

Herbal Acne Treatments - Effectively Treat Acne With Herbs

                By Michael Lee
Some people may consider herbal acne treatment only as a secondary measure in eliminating unwanted zits and skin blemishes. What they may not know is that so many commercial products available in the market today contain at least one herbal ingredient. Herbal acne treatment has proven through the years to be a very effective and cheap approach in keeping your skin looking radiant, fresh and beautiful.
A lot of citrus fruits contain antioxidants which help prevent skin damage and pimples. Great examples of these would be lemons and oranges. You may choose to dilute the juice of the products in warm water then directly dab the mixture on affected areas. Allow the concoction to treat the skin pores for 3 to 5 minutes then rinse with clean water afterwards.
Garlic is a proven antibacterial that you can directly rub raw on your face. A lot of hard-to-remove skin problems have successfully been treated with garlic such as boils, pimples and spots. Ingestion of citrus fruits and garlic will help cleanse the blood to prevent acne.
Another effective herbal acne treatment includes fenugreek. You can make paste out of fenugreek leaves, which you can apply on your face every night. Leave the paste on overnight then wash off with warm water the next day. Grated cucumber placed over the face and neck for 15 to 20 minutes can prevent blackheads and pimples. Other notable useful herbs for your skin are green tea, tea tree oil, lavender and golden seal. These contain anti-microbial properties that help stop and prevent infection.
Aside from herbal acne treatments, make sure you take enough vitamins and minerals to keep your skin healthy. Vitamin A and niacin have been found to effectively treat acne as well as zinc. You may take vitamin supplements of about 100 mg 2 to 3 times daily.

                Prevent Hair Loss

                Prevent hair-loss

Hair loss is a common problem. It would be incorrect to attribute hair loss to hereditary factors alone. Hereditary factors may be a cause for hair-loss only to a certain extent. Just because the previous generations of a few families have experienced baldness, thinning hair and receding hairlines, it does not mean that their descendents are destined for the same.

It is certainly possible to control the extent of hair loss and thinning. It is essential to have a healthy scalp to avoid hair loss and aiding new hair growth.

Some of the factors that contribute to the acceleration of and permanence of hair loss are-
                * Genetic factors as mentioned earlier.
                * Hormonal imbalance
                * A diet devoid of essential nutrients
                * Stress
                * Insomnia
                * Improper brushing or combing the hair
                * Pulling your hair often
                * Excessive use of hair dryers, perming, back-combing
                * Hair-dos such as ponytails which tend to pull the hair tightly from the scalp
                * Excessive oil production from the scalp scientifically termed as sebum.
The scalp emits excessive oils due to the emotional and physical stress. The build of oil and other substances clogs the hair follicles and creates an unhealthy condition of the scalp, resulting in hair loss, thinning hair and various unhealthy scalp conditions.

Below are some tips that can help stop hair loss and keep your existing hair look healthy and great:
                * Massage the scalp daily with finger tips (not the nails) to stimulate and promote circulation to the scalp. It is essential not to scrub while washing hair. It is better to milk the hair from the hair backwards in the same direction. This will give a shiny look to the hair.
                * Comb or
brush your hair and scalp gently with about 50-100 strokes in the morning and at night. This helps break up hardened oil (sebum) that has clogged hair follicles. Doing this alone has enhanced the growth of new hair. Combing or brushing has to be in one direction only, which is from the hair root to tip.
                * While using blow dryers, always keep the heat a good distance from the scalp and hair. Avoid heating the scalp and hair excessively.
                * Avoid applying hair creams, lotions, styling gels and sprays directly on to the scalp as this will clog up the hair follicles.
                * After swimming,
shampoo your hair as soon as possible to remove any chlorine residue, as chlorine is extremely damaging to the hair and scalp. Cucumber hair pack is ideal.
                * While it is difficult to avoid exposure of the hair and scalp to the wind and sun, over exposure is best avoided and perhaps a cap could be used. However, tight hats and caps contribute to poor circulation, depriving the hair of proper nutrition.
                * Sweat, dirt and grime around the rim inhibit follicle health and contribute to build up. Extreme hair loss and thinning could also be the side effects of a medical condition or medication and it helps to consult a dermatologist.
                * Strive for balance and harmony in both your personal and professional life. High stress factors lead to fluctuating hormone levels, which in turn cause excessive oil secretion (sebum) resulting in hair loss. Stress can be dealt with in many ways, most notably through exercise,
adequate sleep, healthy diet and techniques like relaxation, exercises, deep breathing and yoga.
                * Pregnancy, nursing, menopause or even birth control medication cold cause constant changing factors on your nutritional needs and hormonal levels which contribute to hair loss.
                * Last but not the least, it is necessary to avoid crash and fad diets.
                * Proper nutritious meals along with vitamin and mineral supplements are key factors for healthy hair and skin.

Follow these tips to avoid hair loss and also help your hair look great and shiny that you would want to flaunt it.

                Perfect Skin - the Do's and Don'ts

                Do exercise

People who are physically fit look good and feel good. Exercise brings more oxygen and nutrients to the skin so that it is firmer and better nourished. It is also thought that exercise slows down aging. A regular exercise program will help to lengthen your life, improve your appearance, build your self-confidence and reshape your figure. Exercise also benefits the skin by helping to maintain a clear circulation, calming the nerves and promoting a deeper, more revitalizing sleep. So move more, be younger, look better!

                Do use products

You should cleanse your face every day using three different products. cleanser, toner and moisturizer. Use products only for your skin type (i.e. Oily, dry etc). Note that SkinStore offer 5% off you first order.

                Do drink water

Water is essential for the hydration of the skin to keep it moist, soft, supple and clear. Loss of moisture from the skin is one main cause of wrinkles. You should drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

                Do rest

We don't get enough rest or sleep and are often tired. The average amount of sleep we need is 8 hours a night but less than half of us only have 5 to 6 hours. Not resting or sleeping properly will start to show as you age. Not only does lack of sleep make your eyes puffy but will make your skin look dry and dull.

                Do eat properly

It is very important that you maintain a proper diet. You should eat at least five portions of fruit or vegetables a day to keep your vitamin levels up. Take multivitamin if you don't think you are getting enough. Try to avoid fatty foods as they cause spots and will make your skin greasy.

                Don't smoke

Cigarette smoking robs the skin of its vitality and potential for being smooth and attractive. Smoking also restricts blood flow and toxin to and from the skin. People who smoke have a depleted, pallid complexion and skin that wrinkles prematurely.

                Don't stress out

Not only is stress bad for your physically as well as mentally but it is also bad for your skin. Your face can break out with spots, inflammation and make it sensitive and dull looking. So chill out!

                Don't fry

Avoid rays when they are strongest always use a high factor sunscreen (SP15 or higher). Don't over do sunbeds. Sunbeds also damage your skin and can cause dryness as well as skin cancer. The safest way to get a sun tan is to FAKE IT.

                Pamper Your Lips

                By Joanne Elliott

Do you sometimes think that you would kill for beautiful full lips? Sure, you could get Collagen implants, or tattooed outlines around your lip... But it’s a little bit excessive, I’m sure you’ll agree! There are other cheaper, and much more practical, ways of achieving a similar affect. Here’s how to get beautiful full lips in four easy steps...
                Step one: Lip balm babe
Prepare your delicate lips with a generous slick of lip balm in advance. Nobody likes cracked and frayed lips! And in this cold winter weather its important to take more care than usual. (Cold weather will dry the moisture from your lips). Make sure that the lip balm has sunk a little before you go on to step two, otherwise your lip liner won’t work.
                Step two: Line and define
Get a natural lip liner, and carefully draw around the very rim of your lips. If you get a wobbly line, don’t panic (and don’t think nobody will notice it)... just carefully remove it and start again! When you have a firm line fill in the rest of your lips with the same color.
Step three: Now add some shine!
Here comes the glamorous bit, the lip-gloss! Again, keep the color natural. Forget lipstick that’s too dark or too light. One thing you’ve gotta remember though, gloss looks better but doesn’t have the staying power of lippy. Make sure you keep it in your purse and re-apply during the day.
                Step four: Plump them up
This is the ‘hard bit’. But actually it’s not! All you’ve got to do, (after you’ve completed steps one through three), is dot a white shimmery product like eye shadow or an eyebrow highlighter in the very center of your lips. Start slowly, and blend very carefully. What you are looking to achieve is natural looking shading, with your lip color being lighter where your mouth opens. This will create the illusion of beautiful full lips.
Oh, one last thing. Remember, people always want what they haven’t got, so don’t fret... just make the best of what you’ve got. And you know what they say; if you’ve got it, flaunt it!

20 Beauty Secrets Every Teen Should Know

There's nothing worse than getting advice from older people, we know, we know, but the truth is some advice is worth taking and keeping, especially when it comes to fun beauty tips. We've been reading fashion magazines and testing beauty products for years. In this time, we've read 1000s of beauty tips, tried 1000s of products, but only a few are worth keeping around. So, here we share with you the 20 things we wish we knew when we were teenagers.

                1. Skip the foundation If you have acne the first thing you want to do is slather on the thick foundation. Don't. Foundation is for women over 35. Not only will it cover up your natural beauty, but foundation on a teenager looks anything but natural. Instead, cover up blemishes with concealer, then follow with a powder or tinted mosturizer. Tinted moisturizers tend to be lighter than heavy foundations.

                2. You pat concealer in, you never rub it in We know this from watching the Tyra Banks show. When applying concealer, put a bit on the pad of your middle finger and pat it in. Never rub. Got acne? Pat the concealer on top of it.

                3. Play up your lips or your eyes, never both If you are wearing heavy eye makeup, go for nude lips with just a bit of gloss. Prefer the drama of dark lipstick? Keep face light (stay away from heavy blush) and wear only mascara on your eyes and a light eyeshadow. Don't heavily line your eyes. Play up both and you'll look like a clown.

And never, ever line lips in a darker color than your gloss or lipstick.

                4. Less is more Ever notice how some of your friends look best with no makeup at all? No matter your age, too much makeup makes you look worse. If you wear foundation, powder, blush, liner, mascara, eyeshadow, lip liner and gloss on an everyday basis, then you're overdoing it. Tone it down: All you really need is a great mascara, concealer for blemishes and gloss. Add a pop of blush in winter.

                5. Natural hair is always hot If you have super dark hair, lighten your look by going a shade darker or getting lighter highlights. Blonde? Try highlights, especially framing the face. We see too many teens lightening their hair several shades and the look can be super-tacky, not super-fabulous. The trick is to let people assume you were born with sun-kissed hair, not that you gave yourself a bad dye job from a bottle. More hair color tips here.

                6. Vaseline is your best friend Vaseline is a great, cheap eye makeup remover. It's also great for fixing chapped, scaly lips. Slather on a bunch of Vaseline, then use a toothbrush to massage lips. Wipe the excess off on a tissue. Your lips will be smooth and soft.

                7. You can never go wrong with layers Long layers are great for any hair type: Super curly, straight or wavy. It makes thin hair appear thicker, curly hair appear manageable and wavy hair appear just-got-back-from-the-beach sexy. Just make sure you don't get too many layers cut in. Too many short layers is dated.

                8. Acne? Get thee to a dermatologist, stat Biggest mistake people with acne make? Not going to a dermatologist. Forget those $150 jeans you covet. Getting rid of those pimples will be the best investment you'll ever make. And the only guaranteed way to do it is with a dermatologist.

                9. Spend money on key beauty products Not sure what to splurge on and what to save on? I give you the scoop in this article. See if you should splurge or save on cleansers, mascara, concealer and more.

                10. Buying foundation or lipstick? Test it first There are some beauty products you simply must try out at a department store or Sephora before you buy. These include: Foundation, lipstick, blush and powder.

Buy these products in a grocery store and you'll be lucky if you picked the right color for your skin tone. What you can get away with without testing: Mascara, eye liner, most basic eye shadows and lip gloss.

                11. When can you skip sunscreen ? Never Here's a trick we wish we knew: The first beauty product you should apply every day is sunscreen, even if it's cloudy or rainy outside. Why? Good habits start young and if you use sunscreen now, you'll have gorgeous skin when you're 50, 60, 70. Remember, the sun's UV rays can penetrate clouds and car windows.

                12. Wrapping hair around the barrel creates waves There's nothing cooler than long, layered waves. To get them, wind hair AROUND the barrel of a large curling iron. Reverse direction for each 2-inch section (wind up for one, down for another).

                13. Self-tanner will always stink Unfortunately, even the best ones smell. Your best bet is to apply self-tanner a good 24 hours before an important event and take a shower (don't loofah) to wash off any smell. For really big events like a dance or wedding, consider a professional spray tan. These are pricey and don't last long, so make sure to do it a day before the big event.

                14. Don't let nails go Not into manicures and pedicures? No worries. Just make sure to keep nails clean and the same length. If you do want to paint them, don't keep the polish on until half of it's chipped away. Also, there's nothing worse than too-long toenails. Keep nails clipped between pedicures! People tend to judge others by the care they put into their hands and feet.

                15. Don't line the inside of your eyes It will make your eyes appear smaller. Instead, line just at the lash line. Also, an obvious line doesn't look natural. Smudge the line just a bit.

                16. Oily hair? Invest in a dry shampoo If you have blonde hair, sprinkling a bit of baby powder on your roots and at your crown will soak up excess oils. If you have brown hair, you might be better off with a dry shampoo for your hair color.

                17. Shave legs at the end of the shower Cut down on nicks and cuts by making shaving the very last step in your shower or bathing ritual. Nine more shaving tips here

                18. Know your best feature and play it up What feature do people comment on most? Play it up. If you're told you have Angelina Jolie lips, make sure to wear gloss and play with bold lipstick colors. If it's your eye color people love, find eyeshadow colors that complement them and make sure to wear mascara. Also, know what color shirts look best on you and go shopping.

                19. Scrubs are great for dry skin If you have dry, itchy skin in winter, invest in a scrub and handmitts and scrub away in the bathtub. Make sure to slather on a thick moisturizer afterward. For dry, callousy feet, buy a pumice stone. They work better than any of the other wimpy options on the market.

                20. Remember: Beauty is mostly internal Think about a girl you know who's overweight yet all the guys love her. Why? Because she's confident. If you aren't wearing makeup and your toes haven't been repainted in weeks, if you're happy and smiling you will still be 10 times prettier than the mopey cheerleader sitting next to you in class. Trust us (wink).

Dry Skin for Women Over 40

                 by: Yana Berlin
As women approach 40 their skincare regimen needs to be assessed. Even though aging occurs gradually and sometimes it is hard to notice the slight changes, especially when we fall in love with a product that we use for years, swear by it and refuse to realize that times have changes, and so have we.
It is very important to be on top of what is available on the market and moisturize should be our number one priority. While we all dream about a quick fix, or better yet a miracle in a bottle we have to give up our unrealistic obsession with flawless skin. Life takes over, wrinkles happen; aging is a natural and beautiful process that is inevitable to everyone.

Instead of concentrating on how many wrinkles you have embrace yourself for all that you achieved, for everything you have learned and for all that is still ahead. Now after you are done embracing, lets move on to enhancing. To downplay some of the natural effects of aging follow those simple steps, and enjoy your beautiful features, and remember the best is yet to come!

                11 Dont's(Skin Care)

                1.Not Drinking enough water:

This is perhaps the most repeated advice and the least followed. Your body needs at least two litres a day to remove toxins from your system, partly through your kidneys and partly through your skin. Lacking this, toxin build-up will affect your skin as well as your general health, making you tired and dull. Keep that bottle on your desk, and drink!

                2. Picking your pimples:

We do it unconsciously, when nervous, or just as a habit. pimples don't harm your face permanently. What leaves untreatable scars is your picking, pinching and playing with them -- scars so deep that even dermatologist cannot get rid of them 100 per cent. Prevention is the best cure, so stop touching your face and start proper anti-acne treatment.

                3. Smoking disrupting the normal breathing of Skin:

Smoking beedi, cigar and cigarette blocks the pores on the skin thus disrupting the normal "breathing" of the skin. So a smokers skin grows "older" much faster than that of a non smoker.

                4. Shaving the wrong way:

And it isn't just men I'm talking to. Women who use razors for body hair also beware -- shaving against the direction of hair growth (ie from below upwards) causes ingrown hair, damaged follicles and introduces infections into your hair roots that can cause painful recurrent boils. Shave only in the direction of hair growth -- this will prevent damage to your skin.

                5. Not using sunscreen on a hill station

You've gone for a high altitude vacation and the cold weather makes you believe you don't need sun protection -- wrong! At higher altitudes, there are lesser layers of atmosphere between you and the sun to filter UV rays, so your ultra-violet exposure increases. You need your sunscreen all the more!

                6. Taking hormone supplements for body building:

It isn't just the men, even women who want a 'toned' look quickly take DHEA (DeHydroEpiAndroste rone) supplements. These are known to cause acne even in normal skin, and flare up existing acne. Protein supplements are fine though, and actually help your skin.

                7. Not reapplying moisture / sunscreen:

Are you the jet setting type who slaps on lotion in the morning and then spends the next two hours at work without a further thought about your skin? Air conditioned offices sap moisture from your skin in a couple of hours. Also, no sunscreen retains its effect beyond two hours. Apply frequently -- at least during your lunch break, after a quick face wash.

                8. Waxing your upper lip / facial hair:

A total nightmare for your delicate facial skin -- the trauma causes tiny microscopic bleeding into your hair follicles that, over time, heal with scarring and end up causing roughness and pigmentation that is extremely hard to treat.

                9. Going on a 'proteins only' diet:

Fad diets deprive your skin (and body) of essential nutrients. You need vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and various micronutrients that a single food diet cannot give you. Talk to a professional dietician before embarking on drastic diet plans and get them to prescribe the appropriate nutritional supplements.

                10. Late night partying:

Your body sleeps at night, but your skin doesn't -- most of its repair and renewal work is done while you're in bed. Depriving it of the nightly eight hours of rejuvenation will obviously leave it looking dull and tired. Good sleep is a must for good skin!

                11. Stressing out:

Stress shows up after years on your heart and blood pressure, but almost immediately on your skin. So listen to your skin when it is trying to tell you something -- patchy complexion, blemishes, dullness, itchy redness, rashes appearing at periods of high stress, acne flare-ups -- all point to unwarranted high stress levels. Try yoga, meditation, exercise, or whatever your best stress buster is.
