5 Points To Be Considered While Choosing Hair Accessories

Hair accessories add great style to you and your overall appearance. They come in different shapes and styles and you should consider some point in choosing them

1...Safely Comes First

First of all. your safety is of utmost importance. Always choose a hair accessory that fits comfortably in your hair without pulling it too hard.

 Before choosing any hair accessory make sure that they don't have sharp edges. A sharp pointed hair pin can scratch your skin.

2...Choose According To Occasion

      Choose your hair accessory according to the occasion. Bridal hair comb makes the bride more beautiful for the event. Tiara and feathers can be worn to compliment your western dresses like evening gown. Hair band go well with casual and jeans and looks businesslike.

        3...Select With The Nature's Mood

          Choose your accessory according to the weather. In summer use hair accessories like ribbons, butterfly clips and hairband  to keep the hair off the forehead and nape of your neck.In winter use those accessories that cover your ears also

            4...Match Colour With Your Outfit

              Make sure that the colour of your hair accessory matches with your outfit.

              5...Consider your hair length in choosing hair accessory.

                Tiny hair stickers sometimes bejewelled,sit well on short hair.Curly hair can be decorated besides being held in place,with diamante claws.You are fortunate if you have long hair as you can use any style of hair accessory to lend glamour to your hairstyle.

                           These are the points I consider while choosing my hair accessories.Now tell me if you have any other suggestions with your experience

                How to Keep Your Long Locks Healthy

                How to Keep Your Long Locks Healthy
                Love your long hair by giving it loving care!

                You love your long hair, right? Long hair needs special care to stay shiny, free of split ends and strong in the wake of any hairstyle! While long well cared for hair is often envied by others, almost nothing looks worse than long, unkempt hair that is crying out for some attention.

                Get A Trim

                Although many with long hair loathe the thought, frequent trims are the most important aspect of keeping long hair in the best possible condition. If you are in a growing phase, trim half an inch about every three months. If you already have long hair and want to keep the same length, a trim every four to six weeks is ideal to keep split ends at bay and keep your hairs style in tip top shape.

                Stay Away From Chemicals

                Chemical treatments are not recommended for long hair, as it is already quite fragile. Any bleach or strong perm solutions stand to weaken the hair shaft and set you up for fuzzy long hair – a fashion faux pas any day of the week. If you want to color your hair use natural henna or semi permanent hair color that contains no peroxide. This type of color only deposits and does not lift color, so it is not damaging to the hair. If you insist on bleach highlights or a perm, it is imperative that you deep condition your hair once a week with a quality product. Organic hair products are great for long hair in general and particularly good for deep conditioning. I apply deep conditioner and wear it to bed (yes, it’s very romantic – not) rinsing it out in my morning shower. Leaving the product on overnight really gives it a chance to sink it and do it’s good work for your tresses. If you must, you can wear a shower cap to bed to prevent any pillow case damage. I just comb mine through my hair and put in a headband. I wash my pillowcase the next day – no big deal.

                Don’t Overheat Your Hair!

                Long hair really does not take so well to heated appliances such as blow dryers, flat irons and scorching hot curling irons. It’s best to leave hairstyles that require these heated appliances to special occasions. Long hair is technically old hair, and it does not want to be oven baked any more than young hair does! Any time you can let your hair air dry, you are doing yourself and your hair a great favor.

                Eat A Healthy Diet
                Your diet really does affect the health of your hair so take heed with ‘you are what you eat’. Eating a lot of sugar, salt and animal fats is bad for you and for your hair. Drinking lots of water and taking a daily multi vitamin (especially if you don’t eat adequate fruits and vegetables…it’s better to get your vitamins from foods but a supplement is a good back up plan) will nourish your body therefore nourishing your hair as well.

                It’s taken time and patience to grow the long hair you’ve always wanted, so invest the time and money in a regime to keep it looking its very best. Good hair habits quickly become second nature when you reap the rewards of a glossy, radiantly healthy mane that gets compliments on a daily basis. Long hair can be luxurious, vital, head turning hair - but it doesn’t happen by accident. Treat your long hair with special care and you will find yourself smiling when you look in the mirror

                Prevent Hair Loss

                Prevent hair-loss

                Hair loss is a common problem. It would be incorrect to attribute hair loss to hereditary factors alone. Hereditary factors may be a cause for hair-loss only to a certain extent. Just because the previous generations of a few families have experienced baldness, thinning hair and receding hairlines, it does not mean that their descendents are destined for the same.

                It is certainly possible to control the extent of hair loss and thinning. It is essential to have a healthy scalp to avoid hair loss and aiding new hair growth.

                Some of the factors that contribute to the acceleration of and permanence of hair loss are-
                * Genetic factors as mentioned earlier.
                * Hormonal imbalance
                * A diet devoid of essential nutrients
                * Stress
                * Insomnia
                * Improper brushing or combing the hair
                * Pulling your hair often
                * Excessive use of hair dryers, perming, back-combing
                * Hair-dos such as ponytails which tend to pull the hair tightly from the scalp
                * Excessive oil production from the scalp scientifically termed as sebum.
                The scalp emits excessive oils due to the emotional and physical stress. The build of oil and other substances clogs the hair follicles and creates an unhealthy condition of the scalp, resulting in hair loss, thinning hair and various unhealthy scalp conditions.

                Below are some tips that can help stop hair loss and keep your existing hair look healthy and great:
                * Massage the scalp daily with finger tips (not the nails) to stimulate and promote circulation to the scalp. It is essential not to scrub while washing hair. It is better to milk the hair from the hair backwards in the same direction. This will give a shiny look to the hair.
                * Comb or
                brush your hair and scalp gently with about 50-100 strokes in the morning and at night. This helps break up hardened oil (sebum) that has clogged hair follicles. Doing this alone has enhanced the growth of new hair. Combing or brushing has to be in one direction only, which is from the hair root to tip.
                * While using blow dryers, always keep the heat a good distance from the scalp and hair. Avoid heating the scalp and hair excessively.
                * Avoid applying hair creams, lotions, styling gels and sprays directly on to the scalp as this will clog up the hair follicles.
                * After swimming,
                shampoo your hair as soon as possible to remove any chlorine residue, as chlorine is extremely damaging to the hair and scalp. Cucumber hair pack is ideal.
                * While it is difficult to avoid exposure of the hair and scalp to the wind and sun, over exposure is best avoided and perhaps a cap could be used. However, tight hats and caps contribute to poor circulation, depriving the hair of proper nutrition.
                * Sweat, dirt and grime around the rim inhibit follicle health and contribute to build up. Extreme hair loss and thinning could also be the side effects of a medical condition or medication and it helps to consult a dermatologist.
                * Strive for balance and harmony in both your personal and professional life. High stress factors lead to fluctuating hormone levels, which in turn cause excessive oil secretion (sebum) resulting in hair loss. Stress can be dealt with in many ways,most notably through exercise,
                adequate sleep, healthy diet and techniques like relaxation, exercises, deep breathing and yoga.
                * Pregnancy, nursing, menopause or even birth control medication cold cause constant changing factors on your nutritional needs and hormonal levels which contribute to hair loss.
                * Last but not the least, it is necessary to avoid crash and fad diets.
                * Proper nutritious meals along with vitamin and mineral supplements are key factors for healthy hair and skin.

                Follow these tips to avoid hair loss and also help your hair look great and shiny that you would want to flaunt it.

                Hair Care

                Try detangling dry hair before washing rather than after it's wet.
                Wash your hair in the shower. Leave it hanging down. Work the lather down the length (like milking a cow.) Never pile it up on your head while washing.
                Concentrate conditioner on the ends.
                Do a final rinse in cold water - refreshing in summer, worth the discomfort in winter.
                Air dry whenever possible.
                Get a special absorbent hair drying towel.
                If you have to blow dry, do it for just a little while, air dry it some, and then blow dry a little more. Repeat till hair is dry.
                If you have to blow dry, keep the diffuser on so your hair won't get sucked into the dryer.
                If you have to blow dry, wrap it in a towel for awhile before you begin.
                Never, ever, brush your hair when it is wet.
                de-tangle ends first. Then work your way up. Never try to rip through tangles from top to bottom.
                Sit near a large electric fan (far enough away so your hair won't get caught in it!) to speed up drying.
                Buy trial sizes of new shampoos and conditioners - you may discover a new favorite.
                Try rotating your shampoos/conditioners - your hair may respond well to a change in brands.
                You may need different products for summer and winter. For example, my hair gets more dry and has more static in winter, so 2-in-1 shampoo conditioners only work well for me in summer.
                Every scalp and its head of hair is different - so someone else's best shampoo and conditioners may not be yours.
                Here are some styling hints:

                Braid wet hair to set waves.
                A top knot is another good "style that sets" - you will have lots of volume when you take it down.
                Buy a long haired Barbie doll to practice hair braiding, etc.
                For an easy and different braid, divide hair in 3 sections as usual, make a braid out of each section and braid the 3 braided sections.
                If your hair is straight and you want just a little curl, set it curlier than you want and comb it out before bed - it will relax during the night.
                Learn to french braid - practice makes perfect.
                Learn to Topsy Tail.
                Look for non-alcohol hair sprays - less drying.
                Use a leave-in conditioner before any heat styling (which you should avoid if possible.)
                Use only wide-toothed combs or picks.
                You've heard of tear-free shampoos? Here is advice on tear-free trimming.

                Trim your own hair if you don't have a hairdresser you can trust.
                If you trim your own hair, put a leave-in conditioner or gel on ends before trimming to keep them in place.
                Trim the ends of individual hairs that are split - and just a tiny bit at the bottom.
                Frequent tiny trims are less traumatic than infrequent large trims.
                If you can't trim your own hair, maybe your boyfriend or husband can do it for you.
                If you can't trim your own hair, try asking another long haired lady to do it for you.
                Never let someone who dislikes your hair trim it.
                Don't get more than a trim unless you are absolutely, totally sure you want it. If you have any doubt at all, then that proves you really want to keep your hair long.
                There are a lot of good tools for styling out there.

                Don't wear "automatic" barrettes with sharp metal edges. You can paint the sharp parts with clear nail polish to make them dull. (Paint several coats - let each one dry before painting the next.)
                Braid scarves or ribbons into your hair for interesting looks.
                Chignon foundations are useful - you can make your own by rolling up nylon stockings into a donut shape.
                Clean combs, picks and plastic brushes often with some dish shop and a soft toothbrush.
                French twist combs work great - try them.
                Get some chignon pins and hair sticks for top knots.
                Perm for a Day curlers are great if you want a permed look - the package says it all - "Your Hair's Too Pretty to Ruin".
                Use coated or snag free elastics only
                Use sponge rollers; they are the gentlest.
                Don't color - your hair will be healthier.
                Don't crash diet - it can cause hair loss.
                Don't perm - your hair will be healthier.
                Don't smoke - your hair will smell better.
                Don't smoke - your hair won't get dull and discolored by the tobacco smoke.
                Don't smoke - you will reduce your risk of cancer (Chemo is not good for your hair!)
                Don't hang around smokers - see previous three tips.
